Step into the intriguing world of DCI Vera Stanhope on this full-day guided coach tour along the stunning Northumberland Coast. Fans of the ITV detective drama will have the opportunity to explore more than 15 real filming locations featured throughout ten years of Vera. The tour starts in central Newcastle and travels through the scenic North East of England, taking in the dramatic coastline, quaint villages, and historic towns that provide the perfect backdrop to the series. You will visit coastal locations such as Lindisfarne Island, also known as Holy Island, the fictional home of Vera, as well as Amble, Warkworth, Alnmouth, and Bamburgh. Along the way, your guide will share behind-the-scenes stories, fascinating insights about the filming, and details about the characters, including Vera’s no-nonsense style and iconic rain hat.
During the tour, there will be opportunities to get off the coach to see locations up close and capture memorable photos. Rest breaks are scheduled at Alnmouth in the morning, lunch at Bamburgh, Seahouses, or Lindisfarne, and shorter stops in the afternoon. As you travel off the beaten track, you will experience the remote and breathtaking landscapes of Northumberland, bringing the world of Vera to life. Please note that access to Holy Island depends on tides, and the itinerary may be reversed to accommodate safe travel. The tour concludes back in central Newcastle, leaving fans with lasting memories of Vera Stanhope’s captivating world.

I love the hole thing and getting to see vera house and seeing the country side that I never need so beautiful
Liz

The clips from numerous episodes shown at relevant locations were well used. Great day out, good value when I compare it to cruise tours.
Franka

Watched beautiful scenery. Our tour guide knows a lot about the region, the serie Vera and also about the books and writer Ann Sleeves. We learnt a lot of extra's we didn't now about the serie. Higly recommended.
Gail

Loved viewing clips on board prior to visiting filming locales…tour guide and driver both excellent… scenery ( inland and coastal) was outstanding and worthy of the cost…even without concentration on Vera series.
Susan

A great day. All as described in the advert plus more. Guide and driver very thoughtful and knowledgeable. A lot packed into a short time without being rushed.

This evening we joined Jo for the Newcastle True Crime walking tour. This is a great way to learn some of the history of this vibrant city. Jo's enthusiasm for recounting stories about various Newcastle residents who met a grim, gallows fate was apparent. A great introduction to Newcastle. Thank you Jo.

7 April 2025 I had the privilege of joining others on a walking tour of Hadrian's Wall and the northern pennines, visiting Twice Brewed stargazing and planetarium, the Sill, Castle Towns museum, Blanchlands etc. The company operating the tour was 'Northern Secrets' and our guide was Anna Unger from Germany - and an Ambassador for her company. Albeit there had been a bad traffic accident and delays on the major roads which slightly delayed our start - Anna was most welcoming and cheerful, a true professional with a big smile. From our first encounter she spoke excellent english, has a great sense of humour and gave us a running commentary throughout the tour, such interesting facts about the places we were visiting and her local knowledge was amazing. Anna made our day very special - thank you.

We booked the Newcastle True Crime Tour as an office social event, which went down very well with all nine staff! Josh was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and friendly! The stories were fascinating! We would highly recommend this, just remember to bring warm coat as by 9pm it gets very chilly! 👍👍👍

I can’t say enough good things about Anna and Newcastle Tour Co. We were a party of six and did a full day tour of Hadrian’s Wall and County Durham. Spectacular Roman ruins, with a world class museum, Vindolanda Fort & Museum. Great pubs for lunch and refreshments. Do not hesitate to book a tour with Newcastle Tour Co.

I went on the True Crime Tour of Newcastle and would highly recommend!! The tour was super interesting and entertaining and the tour guide Fran was really friendly and answered any question I had about Newcastle. She made true crime really fun and engaging which I didn't know was possible! It was amazing to learn so much about the city I've been living in for so long so I would really recommend to locals as well as visitors!
